New Email Service Provides Hope For Inbox Junkies, Perfect for Escaping Work Over the Holidays

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 18, 2008 -- How many times every day do you check your email? Does it get to be a distraction? For the 56 million knowledge workers in the US alone, the answer is a resounding "yes." With a unique web 2.0 spin on email and contact forms, one new product is solving that problem once and for all, promising Americans they need not be afraid of their inboxes again.

"People lose over two hours every day to unnecessary interruptions, most of which comes from email+," says Jared Goralnick, the brains behind AwayFind, which launched today on Lifehacker and ReadWriteWeb. "Email is a part of our job, not our actual job...and it kills our ability to focus and deliver the creative work we're paid to do."

AwayFind bridges the gap between emails and phone calls. AwayFind users are given a web contact form that they can customize. They place a link to this contact form in their email signature or "out of office" message, alerting people that they don't check email constantly. The contact form then sends a text message alerting the user of time sensitive issues.

The software is the invention of Jared Goralnick, President of SET Consulting, a business that has focused on training businesses to be more productive with technology since 2002. Between business connections, blogging connections, and personal engagements, his inbox was getting out of control. He knew the same was true for executives, small business owners, and knowledge workers all over the world, so he set out to do something about it.

"People are overwhelmed by email, and it's much more effective to deal with all of these messages once or twice per day. But every now and again, something vital and time sensitive comes through the pipeline. How do you get focus under those circumstances? Most people either spend the whole time on their BlackBerry or worry about what they're missing," says Goralnick, 27. AwayFind provides a middle ground, allowing email peace and quiet along with the security of knowing nobody is ever totally out of reach.

So what happens when you email Goralnick? You instantly get this response:

"Messaging me about something I need to know today (like a canceled meeting)? You can click on my AwayFind link to get my attention right away. Otherwise I'll be in touch within a day or two."

Adds Goralnick, "email may have revolutionized the way we communicate, but it threatens to become our whole days. AwayFind prevents that from happening,". If a million Lifehacker readers have anything to do with it, he just might be right.
